Our rehabilitation program offers patients the opportunity to maintain their present abilities; to live within the framework of their limitation; to increase their strength, endurance and tolerance; and to regain needed skills and mobility before returning to their homes and communities. We promote self-care and independence by including the patient in the care-planning and decision-making processes.
We will perform an evaluation used to determine an individualized treatment program. Care may include Physical Therapy to help improve overall muscle control and strength, Occupational Therapy to regain daily living functions, Speech Therapy to regain language and communication skills, and Social Services to support patients and family members during treatment and with transitioning assistance in preparing for discharge from the program with a continuum of care at home, if needed.
Rehabilitation at Westland Nursing & Rehabilitation Centre is more than a comprehensive program of professional medical and therapeutic services. It is our philosophy that gives recovering patients and their families renewed hope, a new sense of purpose, and a more fulfilling way of life.
With the emphasis in health care today on returning patients to their normal lives as quickly as possible, short-term care is being increasingly prescribed by physicians. Short-term care is often recommended following a hospital stay for an acute illness or injury, for post-surgical care, or during a transition period. The length of care may range from a few weeks to several months. Our goal is to promote a quick recovery by offering quality care in a congenial, supportive environment.
